GEORGE HARRY ARTHUR FARMER (1923-2002) - My Grandfather was born at 2 Wyndham Place, Cardiff, Wales on 1st December 1923, and was given his middle names after his grandfather's Arthur Edwin Farmer, and Harry Archibald Brock (an act which my parents repeated when naming me after both of my grandfathers). In 1940 he was a member of the 11th Battalion Glamorgan Home Guard in Cardiff, but moved to Birmingham, England, with his mother where he enlisted in the Army, eventually joining the RASC as a Driver for the rest of the Second World War. Ending up in Guildford, Surrey, he married my Nan, Ursula Effie Jane Jolin, on 2nd August 1949 at the Register Office, Guildford, and together they had five children. He spent most of his life after the war as a Painter & Decorator, and died in 2002 aged 78.
CRYSTAL MARY ISABEL BROCK (1907-1988) - My Great Grandmother was born on 13th Nov 1897 in Cardiff, Glamorganshire, Wales. She married my Great Grandfather, George Farmer, on 13th Apr 1923 in Cardiff, but they later divorced sometime around 1940. Crystal and her children then left Wales and moved to various addresses in England. On the 28th December 1960 Crystal married Charles Henry Gunner in Guildford, Surrey, England. She died, at the age of 80, on 12th Nov 1988 in Guildford.
HARRY ARCHIBALD BROCK (1883-1956) - My Great Great Grandfather was born on 4th Oct 1883 in Cardiff, Glamorganshire, Wales. He married my Great Great Grandmother, Crystal Mary Charles on 8th Sep 1903 in Cardiff by which time he was a lightsman in the service of Trinity House. In 1904 he joined the Royal Naval Reserve, and was then drafted into the Royal Naval Infantry Division in World War I. He fought at the siege of Antwerp and in the trenches of Gallipoli where he was wounded and invalided out of the war. Harry died on 10th Jul 1956 in Guildford, Surrey, England, aged 72.
